The Influence of Lateral Barriers on the Performance of Perintis Kemerdekaan Road (Case Study in Front of Gate 1 Unhas)

Congestion is the result of side barriers that are often associated with social activities on the road, for example parking on the street because shops do not have parking spaces or because bus stops drop people off in the wrong places, pedestrians crossing and passing because of the sidewalk that pedestrians are supposed to use. foot diverted function, as well as the number of vehicles entering and leaving the side of the road certainly causes a decrease in the capacity and effectiveness of urban highways, indicating that side friction actually indirectly damages the performance of urban roads. Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, especially in front of Door I Unhas, apart from being a road, is located in one of the busiest areas in Makassar City. With the side friction and volume on the Perintis Kemerdekaan road sections getting higher, of course the speed of traffic flow will decrease and cause congestion on the Pioneer road sections. This is what makes the Makassar City Pioneer roads narrow, reducing vehicle speed, extending travel time, reducing road capacity, reducing the quality of road maintenance, and disrupting traffic flow. The purpose of this study was to assess the level of side friction and how it affects how saturated Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan Front Door I Unhas is. Primary and secondary data were used in the data collection procedure, with the primary data coming from direct field surveys by collecting road geometric data, traffic flow data, and side friction data. While the secondary data, namely population data, then utilizes the 2014 PKJI, data processing is carried out. After three days of observation and calculations, the highest traffic flow was found on Monday, namely 4903.2 cur/hour, the highest side resistance on Monday, namely 693.5 incidents/hour, and the degree of saturation, namely 1.066, which is where the traffic flow conditions are operating speed. very slowly, and the traffic volume is less than capacity when the forced flow state is reached.
