Peran Motivasi Kerja dan Kepuasan Kerja dalam Meningkatkan Kinerja Pegawai Sektor Publik

This study aims to analyze the effect of work motivation and job satisfaction on employee performance at the Tamalate District Office, Makassar City. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design to examine the relationships among the studied variables. The population consisted of all employees of the Tamalate District Office, totaling 30 individuals; therefore, a saturated sampling (census) technique was applied. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a Likert scale and analyzed using regression analysis to test both partial and simultaneous effects among variables. The results reveal that, partially, work motivation does not have a significant effect on employee performance. In contrast, job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. However, when examined simultaneously, work motivation and job satisfaction jointly have a significant influence on employee performance. These findings indicate that job satisfaction plays a more dominant role in improving employee performance, while work motivation still contributes when considered together with job satisfaction. The study implies that improving employee performance in the public sector requires organizational policies that enhance job satisfaction through a supportive work environment, fair reward systems, and harmonious workplace relationships.
